Lakers legend Kobe Bryant has wasted no time pivoting to his career after basketball.
Last year, Bryant made his directorial debut with "Dear Basketball". Now, less than a year later, the animated short film has been nominated for an Academy Award.
The six-minute film, animated by former Disney animator Glen Keane, is based on a retirement poem Bryant wrote for The Players' Tribune. The short's music has been composed by five-time Academy Award winner John Williams, who has scored countless Hollywood films including Star Wars, Jaws, E.T., Jurassic Park, and the Indiana Jones series.
