Releasing a sneak peak at some new uniforms is usually a way to get fans talking about your program, especially during the offseason. I’m assuming that’s what UCLA was going for with this one.

The Bruins, along with adidas, unveiled an alternate “TECHFIT” uniform for the upcoming season. The new look is called “LA Steel” and will be the first grey uniform in school history, according to a release from UCLA.

Take a look.

As you can see, there’s a whole lot going on here. The team website says the jerseys and pants are “rendered in rich dark onyx grey.” On top of that, the pants and jerseys feature “ultra-light metallic embellishments that shimmer” that are supposed to be a tribute of some sport to the “bright lights” of Los Angeles.

Additionally, the city skyline is said to be visible on the sleeves of the compression undershirt that accompanies the uniform and on the “UCLA” lettering on the pants.
