After months of speculation, it looks like former USC quarterback Max Wittek will finally join Hawaii’s roster later this month. The Honululu Star-Advertiser is reporting that Wittek will be added to the Warriors’ roster as a walk-on on August 25, when rosters can expand past 105 players.
It has been a tumultuous offseason for Wittek, who announced his intent to transfer from the Trojans back in January. He had originally planned to utilize the NCAA graduate transfer rule to gain immediate eligibility to play his final two seasons at another school. The University of Texas appeared to be Wittek’s landing spot after multiple visits, but a delay in his graduation from USC altered those plans.
Instead, it appears that Wittek, if does indeed join the program, would have to sit out the 2014 season since he won’t be a graduate transfer and will eligible to suit up for the Warriors as a redshirt senior in 2015.
Wittek told the Star-Advertiser back in July that he had established a good relationship with Hawaii head coach Norm Chow.
