LAS VEGAS, NV - MARCH 09: Lonzo Ball #2 of the UCLA Bruins drives to the basket against Jonah Mathews #2 of the USC Trojans during a quarterfinal game of the Pac-12 Basketball Tournament at T-Mobile Arena on March 9, 2017 in Las Vegas, Nevada. UCLA won 7

The UCLA Bruins and USC Trojans did themselves no favors on Thursday night.

UCLA had an opportunity to make a statement with a dominant win on the heels of projected top seed Kansas taking an early tumble in the Big 12 Tournament. The Trojans had multiple chances to steal a win over a top-10 opponent, and in doing so, remove themselves from the NCAA Tournament bubble.

Neither seized the moment. As a result, Selection Sunday just became a lot more interesting for both fan bases.

UCLA holds onto long-shot hopes of a No. 1 seed, while USC merely hopes to punch its ticket to the Big Dance
