 Getting Iggy with it.

Another Kings home game at Staples, another nail biting pre game. Wondering….is THIS the game they finally gel and break out. Is THIS the team we play soft and lose to….when we “should” beat em.

Get used to it Kings fans….gonna be like this down the stretch.

Kings played very well for most of the frame. Out shooting and out chancing the Preds for the better part of the period. Until….

A broken defensive play in the Kings D zone results in a mess in front of Quick and Josi gets the puck to Calle Jarnkork and he snaps it up high on Quick and it’s 1-0 Preds at the 16:39 mark.

The Kings were pushing for the equalizer and at the 5:04 mark que the new guy.

With Mike Fisher in the box for roughing, Paul LaDue comes down on the right side and feeds center…Gaborik feeds it on Rinne and newly acquired Jerome Iginla was in the right spot at the right time, (and un-checked oddly enough), he takes the loose puck and deeks Rinne and puts it in for the score.

Staples erupts!! 1-1.

Early on in the 3rd the Kings had a 4 on 2 and were unable to get the goal. Going the other way Kevin Fiala snaps a loose puck past Quick (as the Kings just basically STAND THERE) for the 2-1 score at the 1:31 mark.

Quick stacked the pads on the once dangerous Craig Smith keeping the game  1 goal game and keeping the Kings in this one.

At the 10:55 mark Kings go back on the PP. Martinez shot from the point gets through and Gaborik gets a hold of it and buries it for his 8th of his season. Tied at 2 at the 10:55 mark.

In the OT frame the Preds take a too many men penalty and the Kings OT PP goes to work.

Drew Doughty gets the puck the Iginla and he skates in, fires on net but it’s blocked, rebound comes to him and he rips it past Rinne for the 3-2 OT winner.

Man of the game, JEROME IGINLA!!!

Kings win!!!

**Iginla seems to have found his stride. 2 PP goals in this one and playing well on the Kopita/Gaborik line.

**Kings have gone 5 games with just ONE 5 on 5 goal. Have to be better 5 on 5.

Up next:

A VERY tough game this Sat. against the Washington Capitals.
