New CBS NFL studio host Tony Gonzalez joined Jay Mohr Sports on Friday and we asked him if he's going to be able to criticize players on TV after having recently retired...We also wanted to get his thoughts on Johnny Manziel getting picked apart at the NFL Combine

Mohr: “Is it going to be awkward for you having just left football to criticize a guy you were just playing with a year ago”?

Gonzalez: “I don’t think so, not at all. In fact, I’m kind of looking forward to it. When you’re playing in the league, you have to always be politically correct and obviously say the things that the organization you’re working for wants you to say. I don’t plan on being a guy like a Simon Cowell, telling people they suck, and this guy is horrible….I’m going to be fair and critical and do what I’m suppose to do, what I’m getting paid to do. I don’t think it’s ever going be where I’m calling people out, but I definitely will say what’s on my mind and what the truth is in my opinion”.

Mohr: “Coming out of the NFL Combine today, we found out Johnny Manziel is not 6’1 he is 5’11 and three quarters…..This is so absurd isn’t”?

Gonzalez: “Absolutely, its ridiculous……Are you kidding me? I mean call him 6’0’! People make a big deal but, just look at the film, the kid can play. He is going to be a good player in the NFL. There are some things he definitely needs to work on, but people get caught up in the wrong things and it’s because there is nothing else to talk about. Lets make a big deal about something and never let the truth get in the way of a good story. Give the people what they want, which is just something to talk about”.
